What is Speakerbox?
Speakerbox is one of Bangkok’s most recognised independent live-music venues, built from the ground up to support original artists and the growing underground music community in Thailand.
What began seven years ago as a small but energetic space inside the Ratchada Train Market has now evolved into a cornerstone of the city’s live-music ecosystem — a place where emerging Thai bands, touring international acts, and passionate music fans come together every week.
After quickly outgrowing the original market location, Speakerbox moved to Liberty Plaza, Thonglor in 2019. For six years, the venue became a cultural home for indie music in Bangkok, hosting everything from rock, metal, pop-punk, indie, experimental, hyper-pop, electronic, and genre-bending artists from across Asia and around the world. By 2025, as audiences grew and the community strengthened, Speakerbox expanded again — shifting to a larger, redeveloped space on the opposite side of the building.
Today’s Speakerbox is made up of two connected but distinct areas:
The Speakeasy, a front public bar with space for up to 200 people, designed for casual hangs, pre-show drinks, and community gatherings. And The Live Room, a fully sound-isolated performance space built for clarity, impact, and high-quality production, accommodating up to 350 people. Together, they create a versatile environment where intimate showcases, full-scale gigs, and all-night music events can thrive.
Operating daily from 11am to 1am, Speakerbox serves as both a daytime café and a late-night venue. From 11am to 3pm, the space runs as a relaxed café for creatives, freelancers, and the local community. From 5pm onwards, the venue transitions into a bar and live-music hub — offering craft drinks, laid-back energy, and a steady rotation of performances throughout the week.
At the heart of Speakerbox is a simple mission:
to support independent artists, strengthen Thailand’s music ecosystem, and create a space where original music can truly flourish.
We work closely with bands, promoters, producers, collectives, and music organisations to ensure artists have a fair, professional, and welcoming stage. Over the years, Speakerbox has featured countless up-and-coming Thai artists, regional acts from Southeast Asia, and touring bands from Europe, Australia, and beyond. Many now consider our stage a key stop on Bangkok’s independent live-music circuit.
