Three different mutations of Thai music arrive at Speakerbox for an evening somewhere between ceremony, dancefloor, hallucination and dinner. PAPANIN K @papanin__k Isaan synth / new world music Papanin K is a trained guitarist who fell in love with the sound of molam. Her project takes the inherited sounds of Isaan tradition and reworks them through synthesizers, modern production, and contemporary electronic genres. Reinterpreting the sounds of North East Thailand and Laos into a danceable collision of old and new that we are calling "New World Music" ALIENS ON EARTH @aliensapt neo-molam rock The aliens have landed and, unfortunately for everyone trying to stand still, they brought a rock band with them. Neo-molam, big energy, psychedelic licks, and the kind of live show that tends to turn into a party whether you planned for one or not. TOMYUM @tomyum.chernyim psychedelic / Thai traditional / ambient Musicians gathered from different corners of Thailand - South, North, East and West - bringing their various musical ingredients into the same pot. Traditional sounds drift into psychedelic spaces. Ambience becomes rhythm. It's a mix of flavours good for the soul, much like a well-made tomyum.
